Alberto
Rigoni started playing bass at the age of 17 after a friend
of introduced him to Dream Theater. He then played for about
a year and then with the drummer Enrico Buttol a Dream
Theater cover band called "Ascra". In 2001 the band joined
the Dream Theater Cover Band Contest (organized by Italian
Dreamers Official Fan Club) and reach 2nd place. Judges of
the contest were the members of Dream Theater themselves!
In 2003, during one of Ascra's live shows, Alberto met the
multii nstrumentist/composer Daniele Liverani (Genius Rock
Opera, Empty Tremor, Khymera) and guitarist Tommy Ermolli (Khymera
)... Some months later he joined a new powerful prog metal
band called "Twinspirits" (featuring Daniele Liverani, Dario
Ciccioni, Tommy Ermolli and singer Soren Adamsen).
Twinspirits debut album, "The Music That Will Heal The
World", was released by Lion Music on June 15th 2007.
At the same
time Alberto kept working on a solo project which saw
release under the title "Something Different" by Lion Music
on February 15th 2008!
"Something
Different" is composed of ten tracks, eight of which
arranged as instruments and two of them sung. The main
features of the album are, on one side the extreme variety
of the tunes, on the other side the union of experimental
research with the comeback of melody. Progressive, funky,
rock, fusion, ambient suggestions blend in an original
poetical mix that frees from any defined genre and turns out
to be immediately catchy to every kind of listener.
The CD features appearances by guests such as guitar players
Tommy Ermolli and Daniele Gottardo. Some tunes of the album
were successfully broadcast by the Italian national radio
channel RAI Radio 3 along with an interview with Alberto,
before any public release.
June 2008
saw the release of a video for the track "BASSex" taken from
"Something Different" released to media and acclaim on
YouTube/MySpace (see below).
Late 2008
saw Twinspirits announce new vocalist Göran Nyström and
recording sessions for Twinspirits second album are
currently in progress with a anticipated release in the
first half of 2009.
